FOLLOWING THE ROAD SOUTH

I pedalled on down past La Antigua where the Spanish colonist, Hernan Cortes first arrived from Spain in 1519. Apparently he sunk his 11 ships soon after arriving. "We're going to take control of here or die trying." Within 2 years they had wiped out a 3000 year old civilization and introduced a new language and religion. I continued south. Veracruz is one of the hedonistic capitals of the world. Good Friday afternoon didn't seem to quench its thirst. There were already 6 different DJ's blasting out the rubbish on the beach as I rode past it. Apparently the party doesn't really start till after midnight. I left town.
